Dear all in Public Libraries,
Last year Surrey Libraries took over the management of our Library Direct Home Service from the Royal Voluntary Service (formerly known as WRVS) whereby volunteers select and deliver books/audiobooks to housebound readers. Many of our volunteers have been with the service for a number of years; our longest serving volunteer has been with us for 40 years!
We are looking to establish a Recognition Scheme for our volunteers and we are wondering if other library authorities may have set up something similar to recognise their volunteers and would be willing to share their experience and expertise with us.
In particular we are very interested to know what number of years’ service that you recognise e.g. 5,10,25 years’ service and how you recognise them e.g. Certificate, Award Ceremony or Gift Voucher.
I will summarise all responses received and will repost them to the group.
Many Thanks,
Siobhán De Doncker
