FOLIO Scanning & Synthesis
Course – Applications Now Open: HEE LKSL SDG has been awarded £15,000 by the main HEE LKSL body to commission a FOLIO Scanning &
Synthesis Course from ScHARR (The School of Health and Related Research at the University of Sheffield). You can find some general information about
FOLIO courses at http://cpdfolio.pbworks.com/w/page/7127272/FrontPage (you do need to scroll down a little bit).
Applications for this course are now open. In the North West we have been allocated 2 places with the possibility of a third place. If you
would like to apply for one of these places then please complete the application form and return it to Gil by Thursday 31 July 2014 at the latest.
The course will start in October 2014
and run for 9 weeks though till Christmas. There will be a total of 8 sessions plus a catch up week in the middle. All elements will be
delivered on-line using CourseSites. Portfolios will need to be submitted to the FOLIO team by 31 December 2014.
The
course is aimed at LKS staff who are required to scan and synthesis information as part of their day-to-day work with particular emphasis on those
working for commissioners/managers/service developers. It will comprise five elements: compiling, analysing, evaluating, interpreting and
presenting. ScHARR is currently working on a more detailed plan and this will be available to all applicants by the beginning of September.
Things to note:
-
This course is aimed at LKS staff with good searching and selecting skills. These skills will not be covered in any detail on the
course and applicants who do not have these skills will not be considered.
-
In the first instance priority will be given to those applicants who are conducting searches for commissioners/managers/service
developers.
-
If there are a large number of applicants who meet both the above criteria then places will be allocated on a first come first served
basis.
-
The cost of this course is £500 per person. This will be covered by HEE LKSL and there is no direct cost to you or your
employing organisation. However if you can’t commit to the whole course at this time then please do not apply.
-
If your application is accepted you will be expected to take part in an evaluation exercise which is planned for summer 2015 to
assess the impact of the course.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Gil.
