Dear Colleagues,

We are collecting information on existing training programmes for health staff focusing on migrants' health care and access. I hope that you, as a member of this network, dedicated to and expert in the subject, have time to help us in the collection of data.

The AUSL of Reggio Emilia, coordinating institution of the Task Force on Migrant-friendly Culturally Competent Healthcare and the Academic Medical centre of the University of Amsterdam are conducting a cross-European survey as part of the project MEM-TP – Training packages for health professionals to improve access and quality of health services for migrants and ethnic minorities, including the Roma (http://www.mem-tp.org). The major aim of the MEM-TP project is to review, develop, test and evaluate training components for health professionals. The project is coordinated by the Escuela Andaluza de Salud Publica (EASP) of Granada and is financially supported by the European Commission’s Consumers, Health and Food Executive Agency (CHAFEA).

The purpose of the study that we are involved in is to create an overview of the main training courses for health care providers that are focused on migrant and ethnic minorities, in the last ten years. In order to facilitate the collection of the different training courses including training aims, content delivery and outcomes we have constructed a template. The purpose of the template is to provide a standardized questionnaire to those persons who have an overview of the relevant training courses in their own country. By collecting completed templates of all the EU member states, we aim at achieving a general overview of all the training courses offered in the EU. We will analyse the information provided in the templates in order to  explore possible gaps in training courses within Europe and to develop new directions for training courses.

I am more than happy to send you a template, just let me know !

Please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail should you need any clarification:

Best wishes,

Katja Lanting
