Purpose and Main Duties
Birkbeck is a world-class research and teaching institution, a vibrant centre of academic excellence and London's only specialist provider of evening higher education. Birkbeck Library seeks to provide strongly customer-focused services to our users in our modern Library and through a large and growing range of e-services.

We are looking for somebody who shares this vision to be responsible for the provision of tailored services to meet the needs of library users with disabilities or dyslexia. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an empathetic understanding of the difficulties in accessing library services which may be experienced by a diverse group of library users.

The post holder and job share partner, will advise senior library managers on how to respond to the College's legislative and anticipatory duties and will represent the Department at appropriate College meetings and committees.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will need excellent interpersonal and customer skills, an ability to present information effectively and clearly, care and attention to detail, and an ability to resolve problems which may be experienced by people with a disability. You will need to have excellent levels of IT literacy and knowledge of a wide range of specialist software and hardware. Responsibilities include assisting with the use of adaptive hardware and software.

Further Information
Salary: Grade 6 which is £30,324 rising to £34,650 pro rata per annum inclusive of London allowance

This is a permanent part-time job share position. The successful applicant will be required to work 17.5 hours per week. The salary quoted above is inclusive of London allowance of £3,006.
