This consultation is particularly linked to the propsed privatisation of commissioning support units. A very specific question is whether respondents think it's OK for the safe havens they use to access data to be run by a private companies or social interest companies. This is in line with government's aim of selling off CSUs or turning them into social interest companies. They can, however, choose to remain in house.

Subject: From Health Statistics - another consultation, closing date August 8

One more in the time honoured tradition of sending out documents for consultation during the holiday period. This one is on the Department of Health web site, but it relates to the work of the Confidentiality Advisory Group of the Health Research Authority, formerly undertaken by the National Information Governance Board. The Health Research Authority currently comes under the Department of Health, but it is trying to sort out its procedures before it becomes a non-Departmental Public Body. It's consultation document, Protecting health and social care data is here https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/protecting-personal-health-and-care-data
