Organized by: Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT<http://www.isrt.ac.bd>) University of Dhaka, Dhaka 1000 Bangladesh The Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT<http://www.isrt.ac.bd/>) welcomes you to attend the International Conference on Applied Statistics 2014, which is being organized to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Institute. The theme of the conference is "Applied Statistics: Meeting the challenges of the 21st century". The aim of this conference is to highlight the emerging areas of statistical application and to bring together statisticians from different countries as well as non-statisticians from diverse disciplines who use statistics in their work. Researchers, academicians and representatives from business, industry, government bodies and non-government organizations are expected to participate in the event. Date: 27 - 29 December 2014 Venue: Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka, Dhaka 1000, Bangladesh The main objectives of the conference are: * To uncover new areas of statistical applications and present the latest developments in statistical practice across a wide range of disciplines. * To serve as a platform for researchers to exchange ideas, present their research findings and build new networks. * To encourage collaborative research between statisticians and investigators from other disciplines. * To create an awareness and appreciation of the need for statistics, especially among policy makers, and to promote the sound use of statistics in industry as well as various government and private organizations. * To aid applied statisticians in providing high quality statistical support to organizations engaged in solving real-world problems. * To forge greater ties between researchers from Bangladesh and other countries The three day program consists of invited paper presentations, contributed paper sections from diverse topics, and workshops on cutting-edge statistics. Cross-discipline and applied paper submissions are especially welcome.
