Hi,
A colleague at another museum is looking for research avenues based broadly around the Social History of Money / Tokens with the view to a PhD project and has asked me to see if any SHCG members might have some projects in mind or collection
areas in need of work, that might be suitable.
His current interests are
-Museums in wartime.
-Advertising tokens and what they can tell us about the development of the industry in the long 19th century. (He has previously done some work on Co-operative tokens.)
-Coin defacement in the 20th century as a vehicle for messages, either as love tokens or as political protest (eg the suffragettes).
Please contact Tom Hockenhull directly on

Many thanks
