I undertook a return to practice course at Brighton University.

I thought that as I had put on my application and discussed at interview that I was a SCPHN and Occ health adviser that they understood this. Unfortunately they had nothing ready for an OHA as I was apparently the first to apply.

The return to practice course itself was very much aimed at NHS ward nurses but I did enjoy it (aseptic technique! probably just nostalgia). The speakers were good though acute setting focussed and the course leader was very supportive.

They did find me an excellent OHA in a local setting who quickly undertook a mentoring course so that she could facilitate me as a student and she and I then wrote the objectives and all the competencies I needed to complete to return to practice.

This was five years ago or so and I think that they are still able to offer the course to OHAs returning to practice.
