Dear All

Please see helpful replies and instructions from OVID and NICE below. This will make Systematic Reviews a bit easier to manage for those of us using OVID via NHS Athens.

Best wishes and thanks for the inspiration Rosalind, Lisa and Arpita

Dear Tina,

Thank you for forwarding Sarah's request to WK Health Technical Support. I couldn't get back to her directly, as her email is not showing below.

For us to be able to change the download limit setting from 200 records to 400, which we are more than happy to change, we would need to know the account details the user is logged under.
For users accessing the Ovid Interface through Athens Authentication, we would require their Athens Org ID
If they don't know this, the best test to find the account would be to logon to the Ovid interface, select any of their Ovid products, and when in Basic or Advanced Search tab, type the following command (as it is shown here):
USERINFO
Please press enter, and then ask them to copy/paste the information they will see in red (top left side) and send them to us

Looking forward to hearing from you (or Sarah)

Kind regards,
Antonia

Dear Contact Us

Please could you ask Ovid to allow NHs users to save results in sets of 400 rather than 200 when using the Ovid native interface. As with my colleagues below, I use Ovid for saving large sets of results (over 1,000) that HDAS doesn't cope with. I know Ovid could save larger sets of results but that the current setting was requested by the NICE/HDAS team. Please could it be changed. I don't believe this would cause problems for other users and would help those of us working on systematic reviews.

Best wishes

Sarah Sutton

Good thinking Arpita.
Perhaps we do all need to contact NICE separately then, to highlight that it's not just you affected by this issue.
We already know they don't routinely monitor the lists for issues.
I'll certainly do that.

Many Thanks,
Lisa

Me too!
That does seem like trying to find a solution of sorts of something that seems to be a problem for lots of us.
Would it have more impact if we all emailed NICE separately, or is one email with multiple names in support better?

Many Thanks,
Lisa

Hi

Would it be worth escalating the issue to NICE to see if the limit on the number of records that can be downloaded could be increased on the Native/SP Interface to say, 400?

Best wishes

Hi
I try not to use HDAS for this very reason as I do searches for systematic reviews and often have 1000s of references to download.

I use OVIDsp with my NHS Athens login (and advise all our staff & students to use this too) - I still have to download 200 at a time but this is just a matter typing in the numbers each set, you don't have to wait for the pages of references to load.

It has other advantages too, in that it is slightly more stable than HDAS as well so doesn't time out quite so often and you are able to edit saved searches more easily.

I still have to use HDAS for CINAHL though!

Good luck!

I've been having problems saving 348 results on HDAS. Even when I try to save them in two sections I keep getting timed out on IE7 and Google Chrome. Apart from copying page by page from the results list (copying over 30 pages takes forever) does anyone have any suggestions?

The reason why I need to save such a large number of results is because it's needed for a systematic review on Cochrane. The search consists of nearly 70 lines and has to be done on Embase and Medline and I keep getting error messages. I do manage to recover the search but it's taking an awfully long time. Not to mention the fact that the researcher keeps coming up with new search terms ...I'm slowly losing the will to live...
