Hi Helen,

My understanding (which could be completely wrong and ADS may well correct me!) is that a DOI is given once the report is uploaded by ADS to the Grey Literature library. I don't think it's assigned when the unit/individual uploads it to the form. The version that the unit/individual attaches needs to be processed to make it archive compliant which is why there can be a delay in you validating reports and them appearing on grey literature library. An explanation of this process is on the ADS blog at http://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/blog/oasis/?p=65 if anyone is interested. I think the DOI is something that is assigned to the final 'published' version, if that makes sense?

Perhaps the easiest way is to go to the ADS Grey Literature Library (http://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archives/view/greylit/ ) and search for reports in Leicestershire? Yes you'd then have to go through them all but might be easier than going through the HER OASIS login. You can also narrow down the search by parish etc. I note that by going through this way the DOI is at the top of the record page (if it has one).

For anyone reading this that wants to know more about DOI's and how HERs can use them, the OASIS blog article about them can be found at http://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/blog/oasis/?p=28

all the best

Subject: OASIS doi's

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there's an easy way to find out OASIS doi's? I was thinking about adding the links to my monument records but I can't see a quick way of finding them out... They only get given a doi when they go into the ADS library, which happens after the validation process, so is the only way to get the doi's to go back to all records that are now 'completed' and click through until I find the doi?

If that makes any sense!!

I'd like to add them but I don't have loads of time, plus I have loads of OASIS records I need to validate anyway...

Thanks,
Helen Wells
