Building on Gareth's comment: Multure: mill toll; a payment for grinding corn at the lord's mill. As tenants were generally bound to take their grain to the manorial mill, multure formed an integral part of the lord's income. I have 'windmill belonging to Wittlebury Manor mentioned in 1288, but had no suitors after the Black Death in 1349'. Anyone know exactly what's meant by suitors in this case?
