‘Could do better – QMUL’s cross-institutional postgraduate
conference on race in British universities’
Monday 8th
September, 2014
For British BME postgraduate students who are considering academic careers, the issue of race in UK higher education institutions
is directly relevant to contemporary experiences and future careers. This event considers the context and the experiences of BME peers and predecessors in academia. Speakers are inspiring and successful BME academics from top British universities. Delegates
will go away with a better understanding of the landscape
around race in British universities, and have the opportunity to discuss their own futures within higher education. Hopefully this
conference will also provide a supportive networking environment for postgraduates from BME backgrounds across British universities.
The event will take place at The School of Geography, QMUL. The day will run from 10.30am to 4.30pm with a wine reception finishing
at 6pm. It has been made possible by funding from the QMUL Doctoral College Initiative Fund and will be chaired by Lamees Al Mubarak, School of Geography, QMUL. Attendance is free, and lunch and refreshments will be provided, but places are limited. Please
contact Lamees Al Mubarak ([log in to unmask]) for registration details.
