Learning Away: Engaging Young People
Organised by GEM and Learning Away
14.00-20.00, Thursday 10 July 2014,
Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Kings Cross, London

Sign up now for this seminar and networking reception as places are limited!

The main aim of this joint Learning Away/GEM seminar is to encourage more heritage sites to consider hosting residential visits; opening up the potential of these special places to engage and inspire young people to aim higher and enhance their learning.

Immediately following the seminar there will be a networking reception which will provide an opportunity to network with others interested in "learning away", and discuss proposals for GEM's new professional development framework and membership structure.

What will you leave with?

 * A better understanding of the Learning Away programme and the 2013 Hampton Court Palace residential.
 * An insight into the opportunities and benefits of residential visits (for young people, teachers, schools, and heritage providers).
 * Some practical advice on how to plan and deliver successful high quality residentials in partnership with schools.
 * Thoughts of how and why heritage sites might consider hosting residential visits in the future.

Who should attend?

 * Education and other learning specialists who plan and deliver learning programmes at a range of heritage organisations and/or sites.
 * Managers, perhaps without specialist learning expertise, responsible for delivering learning programmes.

What is the cost?
The seminar fee is £45 for GEM members (£65 for non-members) which includes refreshments during the afternoon, and attendance at the networking reception including wine, juice, water and nibbles. Delegates may join GEM at a reduced rate and take advantage of the member fee for this seminar.

There are only 40 places, so book now to avoid disappointment!

Hope to see you there,
John
