Seventeenth-Century French Studies
Volume: 36, Number: 1 (June 2014)
SPECIAL ISSUE: Fans
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The above issue is now available online at:
   http://www.maneyonline.com/toc/sfs/36/1

Published in conjunction with the Fan Museum, this special issue contains contributions from a number of leading scholars of early modern literary studies who ask how paying attention to these fragile and fascinating material objects shifts the way we think about texts and material culture in seventeenth-century France. This issue will be of interest to scholars in literature, art history, cultural studies and museum studies.

Each scholar has responded to one particular fan from the Fan Museum collection, and related that image to wider cultural concerns: the senses and signification (Cherbuliez), copying and reproduction (Newman), beauty (Goldsmith), death (Stone), the gift (Canova-Green).
