We managed to source a lovely little valise through Etsy for a similar purpose, though it had to be shipped from the US. I would imagine that some sellers on Folksy might have similar.

Dear Gemmers

I have found that charity shops are a really good place to find items.

Our local museums and libraries have sourced a good number of suitcases for seaside/holiday/journey themed sessions.

It has proved helpful by contacting the charity shops and letting them know what you are looking for, leave your contact details and when things come in they put them aside for you. If the item is not suitable then it goes out on general sale.

I have also done this with items of clothing eg flat caps, waistcoats, clothing of all eras and household items china, biscuit tins, dolls, toys and books etc.

Another method is a general appeal through local press.

Suitcases from history closed a few years ago which was really disappointing as we used to use them a lot to source items too. They were selling the business as a going concern but if you cant find it then they must have been unsuccessful.
