Crikey one of our more “senior” invigilators nodded off in an exam several years ago for about 30 seconds before the other invigilator nudged him awake and we got 20 complaints from students saying that they were appalled and his snoring was disruptive blah blah blah and they were going to report him to the Exam Board so we had to give him a warning.

 

So if our invigilators can get into trouble then an AB Inspector should too.  After all they are supposed to be setting an example to all and sundry !!!!!!

I didn’t, I didn’t see the point, we’ve had so many different inspectors over the years and they’re all as bad as each other!

We had the same thing! Although the desks had been measured we didn’t specify on the seating plan what the measurements were. THEN he started on about a checking in and out book for papers. I explained they’re checked in when they come in and once the papers had been taken they were sent off so I didn’t think it was necessary. His response was, ‘often in inner cities, people will break in looking for money and drugs, and when they don’t find them they’ll thrown things around’ (erm, what?!?!) even though our cupboard is double locked, cabinet has a security bar on it AND attached to the wall.  He also complained he couldn’t see the signs, which were on A3, dotted around the room and were more than big enough – yet when he was reading his inspector report it was pretty much touching his nose as he was about 100 years old and couldn’t see anyway – THEN he fell asleep in the exam room! They’re ridiculous! I got generally satisfactory – did I lose any sleep over it? Did I heck!!

 

JCQ inspector came in the following week and couldn’t praise us enough!

We didn’t have the same inspector, but he wanted us to measure the distance, both forwards and sideways, between all 93 desks individually and record on the seating plan!  Cambridge need a reality check on some of their requirements.

If you had the person from Cambridge I had for the BEC CB exams in March, I feel your pain! Describing her as an ogre would be an insult to Shrek!!

 

Amongst the usual fussyess you get with Cambridge anyway, she wanted me to actually measure the distance between candidates for the seating plan, despite the students on that morning working at alternative pc terminals, well over 2.5 metres apart…. Needless to say I declined, telling her I would see if we had a budget for a tape measure and getting the invigilators in earlier for next time… I think the point was lost…here’s hoping she doesn’t turn up for BEC this Friday!

We were inspected by Cambridge this morning and by JCQ this afternoon.  Feels like I’m being persecuted.

 

The JCQ one was a pussy cat compared to Cambridge!
