Postdoctoral Research Assistant (fixed term 3 years)

Applications are invited for the post of Post-Doctoral Research Assistant at the School of Geography at Queen Mary, University of London. The post-holder will work closely with Professor Alison Blunt during her term as Head of School from 1 September 2014 until 31 August 2017, and will be responsible for (i) conducting research on Professor Blunt’s research project on the home, city and migration and (ii) supporting the work of the Centre for Studies of Home, a partnership between QMUL and The Geffrye Museum of the Home. 

Applicants will be expected to have completed their PhD and have knowledge about home and the city and/or home and migration. The post will primarily involve writing literature reviews, conducting primary qualitative research, developing research grant applications, co-authoring papers with Professor Blunt, and providing administrative support for the Centre for Studies of Home. 

The post is full-time and fixed-term for three years, starting on 1 September 2014. The starting salary will be £38,579 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
