Dear colleagues,

There is still time to take up our funding opportunity for the 2014 PSQG survey. Details as follows:

The Scottish Council on Archives is pleased to announce that we will be funding Scottish Archive services who wish to register for participation in the 2014 PSQG Archives Visitors Survey. If your service is interested in participating, please consult the attached guidance prior to registering.

The survey window runs from Monday 12 May to Sunday 6 July 2014 (eight weeks). Archives can choose between running the survey for all eight weeks or a minimum of one.

DEADLINE
Deadline for registration is Friday 30 June, although registering this late will limit the amount of time available to carry out the survey.

REGISTRATION
To register to participate please email CIPFA at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with the details of the archive service that you are registering.

The Scottish Council on Archives is pleased to fund the registration fees for Scottish services, however please note that the fund is capped and therefore early registration is advised.

FURTHER INFORMATION
Since 2012 the survey and the associated process have undergone a number of changes. We would strongly encourage you to read the associated manual of guidance prior to registering so you can see for yourself what these changes are and what is expected from you in terms of recording the survey activity.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Whilst the Scottish Council on Archives is unable to fund this, CIPFA Research offer a number of other services for those archives that would prefer to contract out the printing and data capture (scanning) of the completed questionnaires. CIPFA suggest much of this work can be undertaken by the service directly and to this end on registration you will automatically receive the questionnaire as a Microsoft Word document and a data capture module in Excel.

If you require CIPFA to print your questionnaires there is a minimum order size of 200 at a charge of £0.25 + vat each, added to which there are also packaging and courier charges, estimated at £16.50 + vat.

If you want to take advantage of their scanning services then your questionnaires must have been printed by CIPFA in the first instance. Secondly, all scanned questionnaires will be hosted on a shared platform with other archives, although you will be able to choose to view only your records. Finally, CIPFA will need to have received your questionnaires by no later than Friday 1 August 2014 as they will all be processed as one batch. On this basis the charge for scanning will be £0.56 + vat per questionnaire with a one off £15 + vat charge for the hosting facility.

For help or further advice please contact [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

Best wishes,
Ben
