As previously communicated to you, STFC's Science Board has requested that its Advisory Panels consult with their communities and prepare recommendations for Science Board's response to the BIS Capital Consultation<https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/307989/bis-14-757-consultation-on-proposals-for-long-term-capital-investment-in-science-and-research.pdf>.

We are holding two Town Meetings to enable this consultation:

The Solar System Advisory Panel Town Meeting - Thursday 22nd May in the RAS Lecture Theatre at Burlington House from 10:30 to 16:30 hrs
The Astronomy Advisory Panel and the Particle Astrophysics Advisory Panel Town Meeting - Friday 23rd May in the Large Lecture Theatre in the Darwin Building, Gower Street from 14.00 to 17.00 hrs. (Note that there will also be a presentation from the Particle Astrophysics Advisory Panel and some scope for the discussion of Particle Astrophysics projects. Unfortunately given the short timescale, the Particle Astrophysics Advisory Panel has been unable to organise a separate Town Meeting).

All three Advisory Panels would also like to invite written comment (especially if you are unable to attend the Town Meetings). The Advisory Panels seek particular advice from the community on questions 8 and 9 contained within the consultation document. Instructions on how to do this can be found here http://www.stfc.ac.uk/advisorypanelinput. The agendas for the Town Meetings can also be found on this page.

Please note the deadline for input is 17.00 hrs on Friday 23 May 2014, when this page will close. The Advisory Panels will then have one week to prepare their input to the Science Board.
