Hi
I am working on updating policies
Would anyone have a HAV health surveillance screening policy they would be willing to share, mine is currently simple and I am wanting to incorporate greater detail on acceptable results and when to refer to OHP etc
Grateful for any extra guidance
Have a restful sunny weekend
Kind regards
Karen

Re: [OCC-HEALTH] Occupational medical specialists Yes, it was Dr Richard Rycroft, he was on a par with Prof Sir Anthony Newman-Taylor  and Prof Paul Cullinan for occupational lung disorders.

I have been fortunate to spend time in clinic with Profs Newman-Taylor and Cullinan – what an opportunity - talk about learning from two gurus!

I assume that the dermatologist you refer to is Dr. Richard Rycroft, who used to advise the HSE. Yes, he retired several years ago. There are dermatologists who do have some good occupational expertise. They tend to specialise in a particular aspect of skin allergy, so sometimes it is advisable for the affected person to travel some distance to get the best possible advice.

OH! Just be cautious about what the GP will tell you. My neighbour was diagnosed as having eczema and treated with an anti-fungal cream by the local GP. Not surprisingly the skin condition was not improving. I photographed his skin and sent this to a leading dermatologist (in Germany) with whom I had worked on a EU project on dermatitis in hairdressing. What he really had was psoriasis which required a different treatment and the problem is now well under control. I have lost count of the times I have had to tell an employer that the GP’s advice and treatment were inappropriate and that the real problem lay elsewhere and required a completely different approach.
