Stephen, I took a quick look at the Systematic Collection (John Wortley,* The
Book of the Elders: Sayings of the Desert Fathers: the Systematic
Collection*, Collegeville: Liturgical Press, 2012) and found the following:

10.44
> Isaac the Theban used to say: Do not bring children here, because four
> churches at Scete have become deserted because of children. (cf.
> Alphabetical Collection, Isaac the Theban 5).
>


18.16
> Concerning the desolation of Scete [Abba Macarius] would say to the
> brothers... When you see children, take up your sheepskins and get away.
> (cf. Alphabetical Collection, Macarius the Egyptian 5).


I'm not sure why Wortley has translated "children" rather than "boys". --
