GIS Analyst / Developer
 
We are looking to recruit a GIS Analyst to join the SeaZone division of HR Wallingford. SeaZone provides detailed marine map data and high-quality geographic information for the marine environment and coastal zone. Our data is designed for easy access and use in desktop and web geographic information systems (GIS). Our products are built by processes certified to international quality and environmental standards.

As a member of a group of GIS analysts, you will manage the production of SeaZone marine data products.  This will involve working with suppliers to ensure that data is received, transforming datasets to meet internal formatting standards, running production processes to generate the SeaZone products and quality checking the results. You will also be responsible for  responding to support queries from customers and sales staff.  Knowledge of coordinate reference systems, GIS (ArcGIS or Cadcorp) and spatial databases is essential for this role.  Experience of handling large bathymetry, LiDAR and pointcloud datasets is also desirable.
 
A key function will be maintaining the software tools and spatial databases used in the production process. You will require expertise in FME Workbench and Server, Oracle spatial and PostGIS.  Experience of software development using PL/SQL, Python, C# and VBA would be highly advantageous.
 
The successful candidate will also engage in designing and developing GIS solutions for a wide range of research and consultancy projects covering topics ranging from flood hazard mapping and risk modelling to climate change assessments and scheme optimisation. 

You must be able to work well both individually and as part of a team. Good communication skills are essential both for engaging with with customers and for presenting ideas and arguments to other team members.
