Like many CLO’s I am no expert in ground gas membrane installation, however a developer has provided photos of an installation, whereby the membrane has been/will be installed on the base of the ventilated void rather than the block floor
layer above. The building is incorporating a block beam floor with sub floor ventilation using periscope vents. I find this a little confusing as I cannot see how the edges of the membrane can be adequately sealed over the cavity wall and at the same time
maintain the ventilation opening for the periscope vents. I would have assumed that it would have been better to install the membrane above the subfloor and sealing over the cavity in the conventional way.
I have a feeling that the installation is not adequate, what do others think?
