The launch event for the HUNTLEY BIOGRAPHY PROJECT - celebrating the lives and the works of Eric and Jessica Huntley (founders of the publishing house ‘Bogle-L'Ouverture Press’) will take place at the Victoria and Albert Museum on 8th June 2014 (3.00pm - 5.00pm).

A two-minute film preview about this important education project – titled, ‘Search for a Hero: The Radical Lives of Eric & Jessica Huntley’ can be viewed online at - http://vimeo.com/94515803. The event at the V&A on 8th June will be of particular interest to teachers and other educationalists, as copies of the education publication (researched and written by Dr Roshi Naidoo and designed by Mervyn Weir) will be available. I’ve seen a preview of the text and images used in the new resources (book, DVD & web content...) and the details about the Huntley’s activism and campaign events (particularly via the literary and visual arts) are well documented – reflecting on the history and legacies of some of their early publications (e.g. Walter Rodney’s ‘ The Groundings with my Brothers’; Beryl Gilroy's 'Black Teacher', etc.), their pioneering involvement in the Black Parents’ Movement in the early 1960s & ‘70s, and also their most recent efforts to make the Bogle L’Ouverture archive publicly accessible (via London Metropolitan Archives) to today’s research communities. The website at http://huntleysonline.com/ also goes live on 8th June 2014 and is a fitting tribute to both Eric and the late Jessica Huntley…
