Departmental PhD Bursary

The Department of Theatre, Film and Television at the University of York invites applications for a bursary for PhD students. The bursary is worth £5,000 per annum for a period of three years and will commence in October 2014.

Eligibility
Applicants must be in receipt of an offer for a full-time place on one of the Department’s two PhD programmes: PhD in Theatre, Film and Television; PhD in Theatre, Film and Television by Creative Practice. Normally, they must also begin their studies in October 2014.
This bursary is open to all home, EU and International applicants. However, anyone already in receipt of a full doctoral research studentship (e.g. AHRC, Commonwealth Scholarship Commission etc.) is ineligible. Similarly an applicant who subsequently secures such a studentship would no longer be eligible for the bursary.

Criteria
The key criteria for the awarding of these bursaries will be a combination of proven academic excellence, the potential for contribution to the research culture of the department and financial need.

How to apply
Applicants should submit the following to Helen Dowson, Departmental Postgraduate Administrator, [log in to unmask] no later than 5:00pm on Friday 30th May:
-	a copy of their doctoral research proposal
-	a current CV
-	a brief covering letter
Applications should be made via e-mail.
