This event is organized by FLAME (Film, Languages And Media in Education),
a newly established Research Centre at the Manchester Metropolitan University committed to the research and knowledge transfer of studies in the area of pedagogy of languages through film and related media. The Centre was established
at the end of 2013 to develop research in the areas of Pedagogy, Languages and Film/Media. FLAME adds a more academic component of research to work initiated by FILTA (Film in Language Teaching Association). This event will host a plenary and six papers on
different aspects of teaching intercultural awareness in higher education through the use of film and media, with examples drawn from films in Spanish, French and Chinese among others. The event is partially funded by the Higher Education Academy.
