Lecturer in Biostatistics, UCL Statistical Science


This is a key appointment launched by the UCLH/UCL NIHR Biomedical Research Centre, through the UCL/UCLH/Royal Free Joint Research Office and the Department of Statistical Science to enhance the methodological quality of biomedical research at UCL and Partner Trusts. The post is a 60:40 split between the Biostatistics Group and the Department of Statistical Science. The academic home for this post will be the Department of Statistical Science, and the postholder will work closely with the UCL/UCLH/Royal Free Joint Research Office and UCL Primary Care and Mental Health Clinical Trials Unit (both based at the UCL School of Life and Medical Sciences).


The post holder will collaborate with health researchers on projects across the UCL Medical School and the associated NHS Trusts, conduct methodological research in the field of biostatistics and contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate and short course teaching.


The successful candidate should hold, or be about to hold, a PhD or equivalent qualification in Medical Statistics or Statistics. They must be able to demonstrate a capability of successfully collaborating on health research projects whilst developing an independent research career. The appointee should have the ability to construct and deliver lecture courses on topics relevant to the needs of the Department and the Biostatistics Group and possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.


The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7/8. The salary range will be Grade 7: £36,424 - £39,523 per annum or Grade 8: £40,618 - £47,915 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Appointments at either grade currently qualify for an additional market supplement of £7,000 per annum (to be reviewed every 2 years).
