EPSRC studentship: Copula-based analysis of warranty data

Dear All,

 

A PhD studentship is available at University of Kent (deadline: Monday 25 May 2014) to develop copula-based approaches to analysing warranty data and insurance data. Copulas are a device that can capture all of the information concerning the dependence structure of random variables irrespective of their distributions and therefore offers a useful tool to model two-dimensional warranty claims.

 

Eligibility and Qualifications

This studentship competition is only open to applicants who have settled status in the UK and no restrictions on how long they can stay in the country.  In addition, applicants must have been resident in the UK for three years prior to the start of their scholarship.

Candidates must hold the following qualifications:

·        A Distinction at MSc level in a quantitative subject (see project descriptions for more details).

·        Exceptional candidates with First at undergraduate level in a quantitative subject (see project descriptions for more details) will also be considered.

·        Score of 7.0 in IELT test for students who are non-native English speakers and who did not gain their academic qualifications in the UK.

 

Award

The award will be for three years, subject to satisfactory progress, at the following rates: the studentship covers home tuition fees and annual maintenance grant starting at £13,863 for 2014-15 with a start date of 1 October 2014.
