WPMSIIP 2014 (8-12 Sept 2014, Ghent, Belgium) - Second announcement
7th Workshop on Principles and Methods of Statistical Inference with Interval Probability
===================================================================

General information
—————————

The SYSTeMS research group at Ghent University are organising a workshop on principles and methods of statistical inference with interval (and more generally imprecise) probability, in collaboration with the WPMSIIP work group. It will take place in the historical city centre of Ghent, from Monday the 8th of September until Friday the 12th of September. This workshop is a follow-up to six earlier WPMSIIPs held in Durham (2008, 2010), Ljubljana (2011), Munich (2009, 2012) and Lugano (2013).

Programme and aims
——————————

The major aim of the workshop is to stimulate discussion on ongoing research in imprecise/interval probability theories, including recent developments and challenging open problems. Each day will consist of presentations covering a specific topic, while also leaving ample time for discussion. On Wednesday the 10th of September, there will be an excursion in Ghent, including a boat trip along the rivers and canals and a visit to the city brewery. A tentative program is included below.

Day Topic Session organizer(s)

Mon 8th Statistics [log in to unmask] and [log in to unmask]
Tue 9th Foundations [log in to unmask]
Wed 10th Open topics + excursion
Thu 11th Imprecise graphical models [log in to unmask]
Fri 12th Stochastic processes and game-theoretic probability [log in to unmask]

Note that these topics are not limitative, they should be regarded as suggestions only. We aim to leave the program as open as possible. If you want to suggest additional or alternative topics, please feel welcome to do so. Applied researchers are encouraged to present and/or discuss open problems that might be solvable by imprecise-probabilistic methods. The final version of the programme will be composed in due time, based on input of the participants.
Registration
——————

Everyone, including PhD students, is welcome to participate and/or to present their views on one or more of the above topics, on one or more days! We welcome any stimulating contribution, ranging from a presentation to a short informal statement. If you want to join the workshop, please send an email to Jasper De Bock ([log in to unmask]) or the appropriate session organizer(s), with a brief explanation of your intended contribution, preferably before Friday 1 August 2014. Following the tradition of previous WPMSIIPs, there is no registration fee.
