Dear colleagues, The Scottish Council on Archives is collaborating with CREATe<http://www.create.ac.uk/>, at the University of Glasgow, to deliver a series of capacity-building workshops for the Scottish archive sector throughout the next 18 months (June 2014 - December 2015). The first in this series of events will focus on the way in which copyright law impacts the work of the archivist. In addition to providing attendees with an introduction to essential concepts of UK copyright law, the workshop offers an overview of copyright exceptions for archives (including forthcoming reforms in this area), and explores the relevance and limitations of adopting a risk-managed approach to copyright compliance when digitising archive material for online access. DATES The workshop in Edinburgh on 30 May 2014 is now fully booked. However, there are places remaining for the event in Perth - 10 June 2014 (10:00-16:30).
