Lab Manager / Research Assistant Cognitive and Brain Development Lab (PI: Noa Ofen) Wayne State University, Detroit MI The Ofen Lab for Brain and Cognitive Development (ofenlab.wayne.edu) at Wayne State University invites applicants for the position of full-time Research Assistant / Lab Manager. The lab studies cognitive and brain development from childhood to adulthood, and we are particularly interested in the development of memory systems in the brain. We use behavioral assessment together with structural and functional neuroimaging measurement (including fMRI and ECoG) to assess developmental changes in task-based functional networks and their component brain structures. The successful candidate will assume a key role in the lab working closely with the PI and will have ample opportunity to participate in all elements of the scientific process culminating in authorship on proceedings and papers. The position is an excellent opportunity to gain research experience for someone interested in research-based graduate training in psychology or neuroscience. The position is especially suited for an individual with technical abilities in fMRI, ECoG or related techniques. Key responsibilities include assisting in experimental design and coding of stimulus presentation (e.g., using Matlab/psychtoolbox), construction and maintenance of fMRI and ECoG analyses protocols, and supervising of undergraduate volunteers. Additional duties include: recruiting and scheduling of participants; behavioral and MRI and ECoG data collection; preparation and maintenance of IRB protocols; assistance in grant writing and manuscript preparation and general lab management. Key qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in cognitive neuroscience or related field and strong computer programming skills. Working knowledge with Matlab, SPM, EEGLAB, Freesurfer, FSL or python is required. Previous research experience is strongly preferred, specifically prior experience with fMRI/ECoG and/or research with children. A two-year commitment is preferred.
