Dear All,
John Lambert forwarded the appended enquiry to me, and I thought you might like to receive a copy. If replying, please keep the same heading, and copy both to the list and Mr Hannon.

Dear Mr Lambert
I found your contact details on the Kipling Society
website. I’m writing a book about my 1804 Broadwood Square Piano which was
originally bought by a Mrs Findlay, widow of the wealthy tobacco merchant Robert
Findlay who lived at 42 Miller Street in Glasgow.
One of Mrs Findlay’s grandsons T D Findlay went into
partnership with my great grandfather Peter Denny, Chairman of Dennys of
Dumbarton, the famous shipbuilding firm. As you will know, they established the
Irrawaddy Flotilla Company, immortalized by Kipling in The Road to
Mandalay.
My book, entitled Mrs Findlay's Broadwood Square
Piano, is as much about these remarkable family links as about the
instrument itself. I have a whole chapter devoted to the Flotilla Company and
want or use plenty of illustrations, including the one below which I found on
the web and is accredited to the Kipling Society.
The book will be privately published on a not-for-profit basis
with a short print run of around 300 copies,
With kind regards
Yours sincerely
