Hi,I don’t know whether this is a general rule or not or whether it is just the last 2 companies I have worked for company but do they need to consider insurance?My Company will not allow anyone with a ‘not fit’ statement to work because of the employers insurance- if they have an accident at work when they shouldn’t be at work as they are not fit then I would hate to think of the amount of paperwork it would generate. Obviously if she is working at home it is not on company premises.In circumstances where I have thought that an employee would be better off doing a little something at site, and the manager agrees we have requested the employee go back to the GP and get the statement altered to ‘may be fit’, we give them our proposal and then the GP can make the choice on whether they are suitable for his patient.RegardsTerriTerri GoodyearOccupational Health AdvisorCBS WREF ServicesThis message is for the named person's use only. Subject: Re: [OCC-HEALTH] Med 3 forms and adviceJane,I agree with Carr and would add that this may also be an emotional period and having work may act as a distraction and give a sense of normality.Perhaps check she is aware of emotional support if you have an EAP or counselling or sign post her as good practice if you feel this may help.Everyone manages things differently and some people just want to get on with normal life while others need time out to reflect and take stock.As long as there is no real risk to her being at work and she has been given advice that’s the best you can do and leave you door open. Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Med 3 forms and adviceHello allI have a client who is insisting on working against the advice from her Registrar at the local hospital. She has been deemed 'unfit for work' from 2.2.14 to 14.4.14, but has taken just one day absent up until now, opting to work from home and in the office, depending on her fatigue, bleeding etc. She suffered a missed abortion and chose to allow nature to take its course, which it has. We work in an office, non manual role, but her role is quite stressful and she perceives that her predominantly male colleagues and manager will somehow hold this against her, thus affecting her future prospects. Its becoming a little messy. Could anyone add their wisdom into the pot please? And where does everyone stand with the working against advice on the med 3? Many thanks!
