Information Specialist

£18,000 - £22,000 p.a.

Full time, permanent.

The main purpose of the role

 

·         To provide high quality systematic literature searches for the development and maintenance of evidence-based clinical guidance, health information and quality indicators.

·         To contribute to the smooth operation of data collection, analysis and reporting systems for the company’s product development and service delivery portfolio.

 

Key concerns

 

·         Prepare and undertake systematic literature searches according to agreed policies and standard operating procedures.

·         Participate in developing, refining and improving search strategies and documentation.

·         Horizon scan various sources for new guidelines, systematic reviews, and RCTs

·         Investigate and resolve data issues raised by the customer.

·         Participate in the design and implementation of quality indicators.

·         Participate in other activities for Clarity Informatics as required.

Qualifications

·         Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in either of the following:

  • Health/science-related degree
  • Information management or related studies with a background in health

·         Postgraduate qualification 

 

Experience or interests

 

·         Experience of or interest in guidelines, evidence based medicine and/or prescribing issues

 

·         One years experience in an information role in health library/information service

Technical skills

 

·         Excellent IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications

·         Literature searching skills, including use of bibliographic databases (Medline, Embase)

·         Knowledge of MeSH or other health-related classification system

 

·         Experience managing references in reference management software or similar

Knowledge

 

·         Understanding of health care issues within the UK

·         Knowledge of a wide range sources of health-related literature e.g. journals

·         Knowledge of medical terminology

 

·         Knowledge of copyright and other relevant legislation

·         Knowledge of correct forms of literature citation

·         Establish effective working relationships within a multidisciplinary team

·         Organise and plan work to meet deadlines

·         Prioritise effectively and make best use of available resources

·         Work independently and flexibly, to tight deadlines
