CASP - Critical Appraisal Skills Training: Oxford 19-23 May 2014

CASP - Critical Appraisal Skills Training: International Training Week,

Kellogg College, Oxford, UK

19-23 May 2014

Next month we are holding our International training week, running from 19-23 May 2014 at Kellogg College in Oxford. This is a 5 day course, see here for more details, covering lots of different aspects of study designs, gaining confidence in the appraisal of research papers and learning how to go back to funding organisations and deliver critical appraisal sessions back in the workplace.

We know that 5 days is a long time to dedicate to attending a course these days, and so as we have some places remaining we have decided to open up our registrations for people wishing to just attend the first 3 days or the final 2 days.

The first 3 days (19-21 May) will include:

·       Critical appraisal sessions on - Randomised Controlled Trials, Systematic Reviews, Study Designs and Qualitative Studies

·       A 'Finding the Evidence' session in a dedicated IT suite

·       A chance for networking and discussion with fellow participants covering a broad range of backgrounds

·       A tour of the Bodleian Library in Oxford

·       Welcome drinks & canapes, daily 2 course hot lunch, and refreshments during the workshops

The final 2 days will include:

(suitable for participants who have already attended a CASP workshop previously or that have a good knowledge of critical appraisal skills)

·       'Train the Trainer' sessions on - small group facilitation, how to build interactivity into a workshop, skills for teaching sessions, tailoring workshops for different audiences, and learning skills for dealing with difficult and challenging behaviour

·       Time for practising delivery of workshop sessions with fellow participants, with facilitated feedback

·       A 3 course dinner at Kellogg College, daily 2 course hot lunch and refreshments during the workshops

If you are interested in attending, please contact Ruth Brice - [log in to unmask] for more details.
