Hi everyone,

I was trying to find some professional development courses to do with GIS – something a bit more complicated and archaeology focused.  I found two courses that look really good on the ‘Centre of Archaeology’ web pages, this is the more complicated one:
http://blogs.staffs.ac.uk/archaeology/professional-development-and-training/gis-for-archaeologists-data-collation-and-integration-cpd-workshop/

That one has LIDAR and topographic modelling etc in it.  I was quite impressed that it is only £110 for the day, it sounds really good.  Unfortunately they use Arc GIS and it won’t be that transferable with Mapinfo, which we use here.

I’m thinking I won’t be able to get enough people together to run a special Mapinfo course (which apparently they would do!).  Unless enough other people are interested..?

Does anyone know of anything similar, a hands on archaeology focused type of thing, using Mapinfo?

And don’t say ‘we should be using Arc because it’s better’, we don’t have that option.  :p

Thanks,
Helen Wells
