Subject: TACOS - Historic environment information management 'virtual
seminar' 14 May 2014
On 14 May 2014 the Council for British Archaeology (CBA) is hosting a
one-day seminar on behalf of FISH and HEIRNET to discuss common issues
facing the historic environment information sector and make progress
towards a shared vision and agenda for historic environment information
management in the future.
 
In addition to the seminar held in York, a parallel virtual event will
be running alongside to give all who have an interest in the management
of historic environment information the chance to follow and contribute
to discussion themes of: Users/Reusers, Skills Development and New
Technology.
 
The key aims of the seminar are to:
*         * Encourage discussion between different groups that produce
and manage historic environment information from across the sector
(professional, research and voluntary to identify common goals and
issues.
*         * Develop information sharing networks and working
partnerships across the sector to pool resources particularly in the
areas of skills development and application of information technology.
 
The virtual event will comprise:
*         * Live streamed opening address, keynotes and closing address
from a range of speakers covering diverse ares of the sector (see
http://tinyurl.com/lo2utcc for list of speakers).
*         * Discussions tracked in real-time using Etherpads
*          * Live Tweeting - Follow discussions and Tweet comments and
questions using #TACOS2014 or #histenviron
 
Who is TACOS aimed at?
 
All who work with or have an interest in the management of historic
environment information. This might include, but is not restricted to:
*         * Historic environment professionals who produce, manage and
distribute information and spatial datasets
*         * Historic environment information producers, managers, and
distributors from the voluntary sector
*         * Students, professionals and volunteers researching
technological solutions to the production, management and dissemination
of historic environment information
*         * Students, professionals and volunteers who use social media
to raise awareness of and disseminate historic environment information
*         * Students and volunteers using historic environment
information for research projects
