As part of the merging of the separate DHP and Postgraduate Conferences, the PG Committee are organising two workshops aimed specifically at postgraduates to run at the conference in September. As part of this, we are looking for recently qualified Stage 2 trainees to take part in a panel discussion regarding the Stage 2 process. Graduates of all routes are required; taught, independent and Scottish. The workshop will run on Friday 12th September between 10.40-12.10pm.

The abstract for this workshop is as follows:
Stage 2 Training: Programs, Pitfalls and Presentations

Purpose and Rationale: The process of completing Stage 2 is one that current postgraduate students often complain to the DHP Postgraduate Committee is unclear and confusing, with conflicting information. It is likely that the lecturers and tutors they seek advice from gained accreditation through the grand-parenting route, and so lack first-hand experience of what it is like to complete Stage 2 training. This workshop aims to deliver the most current advice on the revised competencies now in force and the various routes through which these can be achieved from people who have themselves gone through the process.
Objectives: This workshop aims to

* Provide up-to-date information on the Stage 2 process through the various routes

* Provide a first-hand account and advice on how to achieve competencies in practice and academic settings

* Allow students to ask questions and provoke discussion with those who are able to draw on personal experience of the process
Activities: The DHP will host a panel discussion with recently qualified Health Psychologists, who will be available to talk through their experiences and offer help and advice to audience members regarding their Stage 2 queries. A representative having completed Stage 2 from each available route (Taught, Independent and Scottish) will provide a short breakdown of each competency, how they achieved the criteria and any pitfalls they encountered. As the workshop is a panel discussion, after each competency is outlined the participants will be encouraged to ask questions and provoke discussion amongst the panellists and audience.

This workshop is aimed at postgraduate students interested in and seeking advice on Stage 2 accreditation, led by recent graduates of the taught, independent and Scottish training routes. A maximum of 50 students would be able to take part in this panel discussion.

Travel and accommodation for the speakers will be covered. Do let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks everyone.
Best wishes,
Emily
