Dear GEM colleagues

engage is delighted to announce that applications are now open for the
engage International Summer School 2014, on the theme of Ethics & Gallery
Education: How do ethical issues impact on learning and education in
galleries and museums and on artistsı working with participants?

Taking place from 8-10 July 2014, in Falmouth, Cornwall, the engage
International Summer School welcomes experienced educators, visual artists,
curators and academics - working in the field of gallery and museum
education and engaged visual art practice - to review and develop their
practice during a three-day residential course.

This peer-led professional development event represents an opportunity for
mid-career or senior colleagues to work together to:
- Reflect on aspects of current practice in gallery and museum education
- Review current research and political agendas
- Learn about international contexts for gallery and museum education
- Network with UK and international colleagues
- Consider the role of artists working with participants

As well as a stimulating range of peer-led sessions and workshops around the
theme, the event will include a field trip to galleries and artist-led
venues such as Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden
(details to be confirmed). This is an exciting opportunity to take part in
in-depth discussion, meet colleagues from across the UK and around the
world; potentially present or lead a session to develop your own
research/practice; and to find out about arts and education programmes in
Cornwall and the South West.

The cost of attending starts at £275 for non-members of engage, or £200 for
members. To apply, visit the engage website and download and complete an
Application Form and Equality & Diversity Form, and send together with your
recent CV to [log in to unmask] by 10am Wednesday 7 May 2014.

With best wishes,

Ailbhe
