Behind the Scenes of the Museum: Artists in Collections

This day-long symposium, for artists, curators and museum professionals,
examines how artists can work with museum collections to both extend and
enhance artists' practice and open collections up in new and interesting
ways.

The event will include:

   - James Putnam<http://www.arts.ac.uk/research/research-staff/a-z/james-putnam/>,
   curator and writer, discussing shifts in the way that artists are working
   with museum collections and their role in activating engagement.
   - Andrew Renton <http://www.museumwales.ac.uk/art/>, Head of Applied Art
   at the National Museum of Wales, in conversation with artist Sarah
Younan<http://www.axisweb.org/p/sarahyounan> about
   their collaboration and what artists can bring to the interpretation of
   collections.
   - Jon Monaghan <http://jonmonaghan.com/>, artist and animator, leading a
   workshop on 3d printing as a tool for creating user-generated content.
   - Artist Helen Snell <http://www.axisweb.org/p/helensnell>, talking
   about collaboration and what it's like to work in the 'institution' of a
   museum.
   - Emma Price <http://94.136.40.103/~empprojects.com/>, independent art
   consultant, offering practical advice on developing projects that utilise
   museum collections.
