Simon,
This sounds shocking except that it isn't. Most of that data is already held in some database but they are not joined up.

The DNA is of interest, but some of this will already exist for medical reasons as well as criminal justice systems.

What we are seeing is that the social contract is now coming due. The contract's terms and conditions always contained this possibility, which we signed to have the peace, prosperity, and "freedom" to develop our fully human talents and aspirations.

I am not sure what is next or whether anyone wants to rewrite the social contract. I certainly do not wish to have Google running the contract, but I may not have a say in that the way things are going. :)

I will be able to tell my grandchildren "Kids, there was a time, a golden age of freedom, before the web or the internet."

Best,

Lawrence

Subject: EU to create detailed database of every Citizen.

Just out is a press release saying that the EU are to create a database of some 800 million people which contains personal datails, tax information and eventually a genetic map for identification purposes. That's everyone in the EU!
