Dear colleagues

on June 11th and 12th the 'Sense of Place' symposium will take place on the island of Terschelling, the Netherlands (11&12 June). Registration is now open. The symposium precedes the arts/ culture festival Oerol (http://www.oerol.nl/engels/what-is-oerol/).

Speakers will address issues of heritage, identity, arts and resilience, and grief and consolation in the context of coastal/ tidal/ 'watery' areas. Speakers include Godfrey Baldacchino (Professor of Sociology at the University of Malta), Beatte Ratter (Professor at the Institute for Geography of the University of Hamburg), Owain Jones (Professor of Environmental Humanities, University of Bath Spa), Ian Biggs (Reader in Visual Art Practice at the University of the West England Bristol), Joop Mulder (founder and creative director Oerol). There will be excursions to Oerol projects as well.
