Statistician (112988)

Grade 7: £29,837 to £34,565 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Statistician to undertake a leading role in the statistical analysis and data management of the ACHE (Arthroplasty Candidacy Help Engine) Project. This programme aims to develop a standardized NHS framework for identifying patients for hip and knee replacement surgery using safe and equitable thresholds.

You will organise and centrally manage multiple datasets that will be obtained from collaborating sites, as well as plan and conduct statistical analyses, including the development of predictive models. You will publish and disseminate research findings and contribute ideas for new research projects, including writing bids for research grants in collaboration with NHS and University staff.

You will have an MSc/PhD in Statistics or Health Economics with relevant work experience, as well as experience in Outcomes research, such as modelling, economic evaluation, systematic reviews and quality of life studies. You will also have expertise in statistical packages such as R, SAS, Stata or SPSS along with the ability to prioritize workload and write reports to tight deadlines. Experience with developing and validating measurement instruments using both classical test theory and modern test theory methods would be an advantage.

This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 1.5 years in the first instance, with a possibility of extension.

The closing date for applications is midday on Wednesday 30 April 2014. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your application.
