Surely as a community we can't condone an invitation such as this on allstat? I agree with the comments so far that this can't be viewed as an ethical way or moral way for book reviews to be published. Will the authors note within the reviews that these are the four "best" reviews (and what is meant by "best"? most positive most incisive most balanced???) and that these were chosen by the author all of which were paid $250 for?
