Hi All
Had something similar to this as a back up in a field hospital situation for serum separation for crossmatching.
There is one H&S issue there is no guard ;therefore you could do yourself or someone else an injury if you tried to put your hand near the spinning buckets.

But surely the hand cranked fuges are small enough to be a POCT device in their own right.
One can envisage issuing them to health care visitors performing phlebotomy in nursing homes.
Samples could be conveniently collected at the bedside and then processed for example in the kitchens where the fuge could be attached to say a communal kitchen worktop.
I guess if that was not an option, a dressing table would suffice.
Can't think of any particular health and safety issues?.

Why that approach rather than PoCT using whole blood?

Thanks

Dear All

I am trying to improve upon the measurement of potassium, particularly in home haemodialysis patients.

Has anyone actually tried one of these to separate serum/plasma?

Any suggestions?
