Thanks,

---------------------------------

Please find details below of a lecture taking place at the IOP in
London. We hope that it is of interest.

The Institute of Physics would like to invite you to a Lecture given by

*Professor Heidy Mader. *

*The Physics of Volcanic Eruptions*

Date: *Thursday 10^th April 2014*

Venue: *Institute of Physics, 76 Portland Place, London, W1B 1NT*

Time: *18.30 (registration from 18.00)*

Our understanding of the processes operating during volcanic eruptions
has advanced enormously in the last 50 years. This understanding has
been driven by the application of fundamental science to the volcanic
flows, which has seen volcanology develop from a field-based descriptive
art into a highly quantitative, process-oriented scientific discipline.

This lecture will be an opportunity to hear first-hand about how
physics, experimentation and modelling of eruptions is bringing us
closer to the ultimate goal of achieving quantitative eruption forecasting.

Professor Heidy Mader is University Research Fellow in Earth Sciences at
the University of Bristol. Her research interests cover a broad range of
multiphase phenomena in the environmental sciences, specifically
problems in volcanology and glaciology.

The full details about the lecture and speaker can be found in this pdf.
<https://www.iopconferences.org/IOP/media/uploaded/EVIOP/event_366/L%20FUND%20LF%200314%20Mader%20Lecture%20Web.pdf>

The lecture is free to attend and is open to all, physicists and
non-physicists alike, so please feel free to pass this invitation on to
your colleagues, relatives, students or anyone else whom you think would
be interested. Places are limited, so for those wishing to attend,
please register online at,

We look forward to seeing you there.

This lecture is part of the Opportunity Physics 2014 lecture series, to
