Fully funded PhD studentship
A holistic view point of residential environments for the wellbeing of older people in rural communities

The School of Architecture and The Lincoln Institute of Health in University of Lincoln is inviting applications for fully funded studentships from outstanding, highly-motivated students to join a thriving research environment based in one of the world’s great small cities. For details of the application process please see https://www.lincoln.ac.uk/home/studyatlincoln/postgraduateprogrammes/postgraduateresearch/studentships/

The successful candidate will need to be passionate about addressing the important issue of housing design for older people in an ageing society, significantly advancing the research field of residential development. A good knowledge around housing and neighbourhood design is essential; an understanding of the interface between people and the environment, and experimental design skills are desirable.

In this studentship, the applicant will design and develop tools that can deliver older people’s well-being in residential environments. The successful candidate will be able to take into account the innovative design and construction of the built environment as well as its integration across health, social and third sector care. The challenge will be to bring together diverse fields of knowledge in an interdisciplinary approach; developing theoretical and operational models which encourage key decision-makers to place the well-being of the older person at the centre of any rural residential environment.

The closing date for applications is 18th April 2014. If further details are required please email Dr Primali Paranagamage at [log in to unmask]
