Hi Lorna

Citing DD in my veiw not a sufficient reason for request 30 min break in 4hrs working time. Need to specify effect/ reason such as diabetes causing excessive fatigue or others etc to be considered under the EA 2010. Also consider altering duties to less demand as tolerated for 30 min?

Hi
Sorry i have had to  hijack this thread as i have forgotten my password.
I have an employer who is asking about an employee who is IDD and only works 4 hours per day and is stating he requires a half hour break dur to him being diabetic . Is there anyting in equality act that cites this as correct. Im my humble opinion i would have thought that as long as he has eaten, taken correct dose of insulin and taken his blood sugar levels prior to work he would be able to manage without a break( other employees who work 4 hours are not entitled to half hour break)but if he felt that he was experiencing a hypo allow himself 10 mins get something to eat

( My husband is an IDD and manages to get through 4 hours without taking a break to eat ))

Good morning list

Does anyone have an operational standard or clinical guidance standard that they would be prepared to share with me regarding ‘fitness to teach’?  It’s a new area for me and currently doing my research.

Many thanks
Angela
