The National Collaborating Centre for Women’s and Children’s Health (NCC-WCH) is a multi-disciplinary, health services research team. It is part of the Quality and Knowledge Directorate of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) who are commissioned by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to produce evidence-based clinical guidelines for the NHS in England and Wales.
This role presents an opportunity for a systematic reviewer interested in providing guideline team leadership in topics relating to women’s and children’s health, technical expertise in systematic reviewing and guideline development more widely, and senior leadership to support the role and duties of the Director, NCC-WCH. An MSc in health services research or a related area (for example, epidemiology or medical statistics) or a medical degree with experience in health services research is essential for this post, as are knowledge and understanding of the processes and outputs of critical appraisal, systematic reviewing and synthesis of quantitative and qualitative research evidence, and knowledge of the NICE guideline development process, including the role of health economics. The ideal candidate will also have: a PhD in health services research or a related area (for example, epidemiology or medical statistics); a project management qualification (for example, Prince2); experience in conducting network meta-analysis; and experience in leading complex multidisciplinary projects to completion in a commissioned (delivery-focused) environment.
The College is a membership organisation concerned with standards of training and education in the medical specialty of obstetrics and gynaecology. Located in pleasant offices overlooking Regent’s Park, the College offers an excellent and friendly working environment with a package that includes flexible working hours, subsidised gym membership, season ticket loan, first class pension scheme and generous annual leave entitlement.
