medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

For the few, who read Middle-High-German, a nice poem of Friedrich von Sonnenburg (2nd half of 13.):

Sich, gotes tohter, wiltu mich

niht mieten, küniginne,

so sage ich, waz ein hoher mantelgabe mit dir begangen hat:

Er nam sich dir ze dienen an

in minniclicher minne,

er warp ez tougen wider dich –

do taete du, swes er bat.

Dir gienc sin bete und siniu wort

durch oren und durch ougen;

al dar quam siner vröuden hort

ze dir geslichen tougen:

Er was dir minniclichen bi

mit warheit sunder spot.

yours
Karl

Greetings. I was wondering whether any of the following traditions ring a bell from primary texts: medieval narrative/mystery plays/religious poetry, etc. I'm looking for precedents to details from a series of Castilian sermons preached around 1510, but will happily take references from any country during the high to the late Middle Ages.

--Descriptions of the Annunciation that call Gabriel a "matchmaker" between Mary and the Trinity.

"matchmaker" and its equivalent in other languages are recognized translations of Latin _paranymphus_. Cf. (e.g.) "werber" here (Dasypodius' _Dictionarium Latinogermanicum_):
http://www.germanstudies.org.uk/enhg_dic/enhg_dicw.htm
and Gabriel as _paranymphus_ at the Annunciation is absolutely standard. Cf. (e.g.) in the paragraph at upper left here (beginning _Dicitur autem haec dies_) in William of Auvergne's _Sermones de tempore_ 43 (2d sermon on the feast of the Annunciation):

and in para. 6 of St. Bonaventure, _De dono fortitudinis. Collatio secunda_:
http://www.franciscan-archive.org/bonaventura/opera/collat6.html

and in the hymn _Paranymphus adiit_ (also _Paranymphus adiens_):

and in the sequence _Deum Jesu Christi patrem_, strophe 2:
